In accordance with the activities under Scope of Work of agreement between Pak One Health Alliance, Islamabad and Ending Pandemics – USA for a project titled “Deploying One Health – Event Based Surveillance System in Punjab (Pakistan), a three day Training of the Trainers Workshop was organized at Best Western Premier Hotel, Islamabad on December 9 – 11, 2021.
The core objective of this workshop was One Health Promotion and capacity building of the stakeholders on Event-Based Surveillance. Encouraging participation was observed from all One Health sectors i.e. Ministry of National Health Services Regulations & Coordination, Islamabad; National Institute of Health, Islamabad; National Agriculture Research Centre, Islamabad; Department of Health – Punjab; Livestock and Dairy Development Department of Punjab; University of Health Sciences – Lahore; University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences – Lahore; University of Agriculture, Faisalabad; and Punjab Information Technology Board, Lahore. Mr. Sajjad Haider Yaldram, Joint Secretary (Technical), Ministry of National Health Services Regulations & Coordination, Islamabad inaugurated the workshop as Chief Guest. Dr. Jamil Ansari, Chief Field Epidemiology & Disease Surveillance Department, National Institute of Health, Islamabad chaired the day-2 sessions.
The 3rd-day sessions were chaired by Dr. Muhammad Asif, Chief Health, Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives, Islamabad. Dr. Sana Iftikhar, Assistant Professor, Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore and EBS Consultant was the Lead Trainer of this workshop.
